U-14s 2003 Ulster Champions & County Champions
Moving forward a few year’s now, 2003 doesn’t seem that long ago and then you realise it was 17 years ago. Anyway, the 2003 U-14s must go down as one of the most successful teams in the clubs history. Having just missed out in the County U-13 Final the previous year, Manager Sean Timoney had high hopes for his team, but even he can hardly have imagined the level of success they achieved that year. They dominated Division 2 football in Donegal that year and would go on to become the first team from the club to reach an Ulster Final and win it.
They cantered through the Southern Division and a sign of how much this team had improved, they hammered Downing’s(their conquerors from the previous year)in a County Semi-final. Urris provided the opposition in League and Championship finals and though putting up battling performances, Naomh Brid team were just too strong. They also added the Donegal Feile title, giving them a clean sweep of Division 2 County titles in Donegal.
Winning the Donegal Feile title qualified them to represent Donegal at the Ulster Feile Competition taking place in Tyrone. The successful run continued at Ulster level beating two Tyrone teams and Fermanagh side Devenish to qualify for the Division 2 Ulster Final . First they got to enjoy the pomp of the Teams parade in Carrickmore before facing Castledawson from Derry. Once again they proved too strong for their opposition and the club had their first and to date only Ulster winning team.
