MILFORD V NAOMH BRID
Seniors and Reserves travelled to Milford on Saturday evening for the last leg in the championship groups. Milford secured an early goal in the opening minutes of the match which gave them an air of confidence however, lots of missed opportunities and wide balls saw the first half come to a close with Naomh Brid in the lead thanks to a late goal from Sean Rooney. As the second half commenced Gearoid Gallagher scored a point from free, one of eight points scored by the Mullinasole man on the day. The game ended in a draw with a final score of Milford 3-05, Naomh Brid 1-11.
From the start the Senior game promised to be an intense, fast paced game. Milford secured the opening score of the game with a quick point which was quickly answered by a point from Gary Mc Cafferty. The first half was quite low scoring as the whistle blew to Milford 0-04, Naomh Brid 0-03. In the first ten minutes of the second half it looked like MIlford were ripping ahead with them scoring 1-02 and it looked like they were a sure bet for the next stage of the championship. However, the Naomh Brid men thought differently by sailing the ball over the bar but it was a cracking goal from David Walsh that saw us level with the Milford men. After a point from Gary Mc Cafferty saw Naomh Brid in the lead for the first time in the game. The game closed with the scoreboard reading Milford 1-07 Naomh Brid 1-10. Great win for the lads and securing them a place in the next stage of the championship.

Naomh Brid 0-7, Burt 0-8
Game got off to a slow start today in Pairc Naomh Brid with the opening score coming 8minutes into the game for Burt. This saw Burt on a roll as they knocked 4 points over the bar and Naomh Brid failing to get any score on the board until the 27th minute from a free taken by the goalkeeper, Pauric Mc Daid. When the half time whistle was blown the scoreboard read Naomh Brid 0-1 Burt 0-6. In the second half Naomh Brid gathered a momentum and kicked several lovely scores over the bar from David Walsh, Shane Walsh, Ross Gallagher and Declan Mc Cafferty. Their half time talk must have made them pull their socks up!!! it seemed like a draw was within their reach but Naomh Brid failed to get that vital point and unfortunately the final whistle saw Naomh Brid 0-7 Burt 0-8.
First home game of the season saw Milford travel to Trummon on a beautiful Bank Holiday Monday. Naomh Brid Reserves played a cracking game with every score well fought for and unfortunately falling short at the end losing by a point. Final score Naomh Brid 0-14 Milford 2-9.
Our Seniors went off to a roaring start and closed the first half with a 2 point lead. Unfortunately Naomh Brid’s luck changed in the second half with Milford driving home 2 more goals. 14s progress to Championship semi-final.
Naomh Brid 6-14 Naomh Ultan 0-7
In a fine summers evening in trummon on wednesday evening the under 14s recorded a fantastic victory to progress out of their group and move on to the semi finals. It was the home side in charge from start to finish and showed the Dunkineely men right from the start their intent. Keelan Heaney hitting 1-1 in first couple of minutes. This great start and their dominance in the middle third set the boys on their way and with John Honey and Ryan Brogan showing well for the ball and getting a point each, Billy Harron was keeping the green flag busy by scoring two first half goals. Jarlath Leonard’s athleticism was once again on show and the midfielder helped himself to a couple off points. With his midfield partner and team captain Eoin McGrane and his six defenders working very hard were keeping the visitors at bay but did manage four first half points. Three off which came from the dead ball by their very impressive corner forward. Heaney insured Naomh Brid were to finish the first half strongly with another goal and a point.
HT N.Brid 3-6 N.Ultan 0-4
Credit to the away side for really showing some bottle and taking the game to Naomh Brid but just found the net minder Francis Barron in top form and with the full back line first to every ball coming in it was just not going to be their day and will be sure to come back strong for the division 3 league final on Monday night between the same two teams. Heaney grabbed another goal to grab a hat-trick and Harron was not to be outscored in that department as he did the same followed by two more points and Keelan again responding with his final score off the match with a point. Ethan Gallagher and Edward Britton put two more on the board before Brogan got his second off the match. N.Ultan split the posts 3 times in the second half to leave final score off 6-14 to 0-7.
Darragh Byrne was exceptional for the visitors and a real player for the future while Naomh Brids sharpshooters were in form and defence tight with Philip Quinn and Recce Mc Grath coming out with the ball time and time again. Francis Barron can be proud off his clean sheet witch at u14 are hard come by but the real man of the match was wing back Kieran Mc Grory who before coming off injured gave his all playing a hard and simple game for the second match running.
This group off players are really coming on and after being beating by N.Ultan back in April this results just shows that, and pushing a very strong Killybegs side last Saturday all the way (Who have won all 13 games off their season) the future is bright for these lads. Div 3 final is down for Monday evening at 6:30 in Tir Chonaill park, Donegal Town and the club would really appreciate a big support as it can really spur the boys on.
